Week Ending July 13, 2008

This is a picture of Elders Payne and Hall - the assistants. They are great!

This was a week number 3.

Mom went out with two Sisters missionaries this week to share in some teaching. She was nervous about doing this, but it went great and I don’t think she will have a problem doing it again. I also went out teaching again this week and was very impressed with the teaching skills the missionaries here have.

I have felt impressed that the assistants should have a proselyting area assigned to them, and not just administrative duties. In the past the former mission president had them travel on all interviews with him, so that they didn’t have time to maintain an area. It will be a great personal loss to me to not have them travel with us and be available to us as a constant support, but I will move forward as I have felt prompted to give them an area this next transfer and let them lead the other missionaries by example.

I am dealing with two missionaries who are feeling a bit home sick and I am trying to lift and help them. Since they are both in outlining areas I need to rely on prayers, calls, home support, and my assistants until the next chance I have to meet them. The assistants were able to go out and work with one of them this last week, and hopefully go with the other this next week.

I spoke with my assistants at a young man’s camp this last Monday up in the mountains.

We didn’t speak in a ward this week (we did the first two weeks) but we are scheduled to give a fireside to combined ward youth group this next Sunday.
